Summer's Gone??

So, I just took a look at the blog and realized I hadn't written in over 3 months...oops. Here's the short version for our Summer...



July - THE POOL OPENED!!! We had so much fun at the pool this year! Owen became very comfortable in the water and was just beginning to swim a very little bit before the weather got cold.








August was spent at the pool.











September - Nags Heads (Hermit Crabs!), Birthday Party, Birthday Party, Birthday Party...We had a birthday party every weekend in September, which I love cause it means we've got something for Owen to do!

October - Flag Football! Football started yesterday, Owen is already showing improvement over last year.

Off to start a bath...new week ahead of us. L8R

Owen's New 'Extreme' Hobby

Owen has a new favorite toy...his Razor scooter. He's actually becoming quite adept at riding. Last night we had some friendly neighborhood 'street' races and the results were...well...you'll see...

So...eventually, he got back on the scooter and rode around a little bit - taking it easy.

We lit some fireworks and everything seemed to be back to normal.



We found a secondary scratch before bedtime...I applied the requisite Iron Man band aid and all was well.

This morning, Christian was asked about a million times when he was getting his own Razor scooter and then subsequently challenged to a rematch. All is well :)

Spring

What have we been up to??  Well...let's see...we've been playing basketball...

and getting Owen's annual Cardiology checkup.

We went to the cardiologist today, Owen had an ECHO and EKG and the results were good news!  His condition has leveled off and the doctor is projecting that he will not need surgery until pre-adolescence.  We were so relieved :)  Now we can concentrate on having a wonderful summer - the pool opens in 2 weeks!!!

Easter Prep

We took Owen to the Rolesville Easter Egg hunt this weekend. I'm not quite sure why people put chocolate candies in plastic eggs in 70 degree weather, but, nevertheless, we had a fun time. Owen met his friend Emily there and they hunted together. Since Emily was a rather particular hunter - she wanted pink and purple eggs - Owen ended up sharing some of his finds :)

We're excited to go to Roanoke this weekend and have another Hunt and festival :)

Oh - almost forgot - Owen - out of the blue tonight - asked me when I was going to marry Daddy :)

Boys being Boys

Owen had a playdate with friends and neighbors Alan and Danny. We went on an adventure around the neighborhood and had a blast before running out of gas...or juice, should I say. Dad had to come pick us up and bring Owen's Monster Truck home.

REPTILE & AMPHIBIAN DAY

Today was Reptile and Amphibian day at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. It was also a rainy Saturday - so the museum was packed!!

Owen, Christian, and I met up with Owen's friend Emily and her family for an afternoon of snakes, frogs, and lizards.

Owen touched a snake, but was not quite ready to hold one. I could not even summons up the courage to touch one, so I think he was very brave. We also saw a Gecko, an Iguana, and some other lizard I don't know the name of :)

It was a fun activity for a rainy Saturday - here are some pics - enjoy :)

December 2008

December...2008...is gone! We had a busy month with Holidays and family visits and daycare closure :) Owen had a whole week off from school during Christmas week. Daddy kept him on Monday, Mommy on Tuesday, and then 5 whole days with Mommy and Daddy!! Owen and I ate lunch with Daddy on Tuesday and then went to Marble Kids Museum with Emily and her Mommy. We had been there before, but going with a friend was a lot more fun!

Christmas and New Years have come and gone. Santa brought Owen a Power Wheels F150, a Fireman Hat & 'Gun', and a Garbage Truck. Owen loves the F150 and has even been willing to ride it in the cold and wind the past few days.

Today we had collards and black eyed peas (Daddy made Hopping John) to give us good luck in 2009. We hope everyone had a great Holiday Season and that 2009 is a great year for everyone!
